Chris Hani Educare Centre has been caring for young children in Langa, Cape Town, since 1996. With four teachers and a small support team, the centre provides early childhood education, daily care and nutritious meals for more than 80 children.
Many families in the surrounding community face unemployment and financial hardship. Although the centre receives contributions from parents, these are often not enough to cover all its educational, nutritional and maintenance needs.
With support from the Together Trust and 7th Sense Travel’s clients, the centre’s playground has been improved and maintained, creating a safer and more welcoming place for children to play and learn. A vegetable garden and fruit trees have also been established to provide fresh food while introducing children to how fruit and vegetables are grown.
By supporting children during these important early years, Chris Hani Educare Centre is helping them build strong foundations for learning, development and a brighter future.
